  1. First and foremost, Happy New Year's everyone! ? Currently turning to this forum for some insight/info/advice. I currently work as a postpartum nurse and am thinking of switching/transitioning to L&D. OB has been a longstanding interest of mine since my clinicals in nursing school. Fortunely, I got the opportunity to switch specialties from med-surg to postpartum, which I chose since I wasn't sure that I wanted to go into L&D just yet. I'm feeling like it's time for me to challenge myself a bit more and go into L&D but I am sort of nervous/anxious as to how I would adapt to that segment of OB (as you can guess, the two units are separate from each other rather than being a LDRP). I was wondering how easy/difficult would it be to adjust/adapt to L&D with a postpartum background? I've fortunately floated as a nursery nurse a couple of times and was able to see some of the action without having issues with seeing deliveries. However, I feel like that I only saw the surface of what actually goes on in the unit on a daily basis. Any insight/info/advice would be much appreciated!
  2. Thank you Simplistic. I currently looked up my school's policy to make sure. As long as I turn in the request before the deadline the class will not count towards my gpa but will have a "W". However when I take the class again I would have to stick through the whole thing. It will also delay my graduation date.
  3. I'm currently setting up a time to meet with my nursing advisor asap before the deadline.
  4. Hi all. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Currently I'm taking Peds & have a 75% average in the class when our school requires a 76%. I'm pretty disappointed at myself since I envisioned doing well in the class but started off with bad footing on my 1st exam and barely passed. I took the initiative on myself to do better on the next exam. While I did have a better raw score it wasn't enough to push me pass 76% (it dropped me to 75%). I have 1 more quiz, a final, & a cumulative exam (that can either really help me or damage my grade beyond repair even if I got A's on the next test or final). I'm really scared since things can go either way. I have been in this situation once before and didn't make it... and I can't Fail another class (school policy). I am also currently thinking if I should withdraw from the class before the deadline to withdraw passes. Couldn't discuss my options with my parents since they practically got angry when I mentioned my current score when it posted. They don't even want to talk to me. (I totally understand that since I'm upset about it myself and our concerns w/ tuition and stuff.). So... I'm looking to here for some advice or insight so I can think before making a decision? Would really appreciate it.....
