I am just beginning my CNA career, and I think I made a mistake. I went through my classes and clinical's just fine with no pain or problems then about two months ago I hurt my back before I was working as a CNA and had to be put on steroids. Fast forward to starting my new CNA job three weeks ago and ugh my back is killing me, I can't seem to move people without pain, and helping them up into their wheel chairs is very difficult for me. Plus I am new to it all, and I am just feeling discouraged. Will my back adjust? I have always been a physical person and consider myself in good shape (I have cleaned homes for 10+ years, so I am used to hard work) UGHHH but now I think I made a mistake, that I can't do this job physically.

I kind of think you are dealing with an acute injury and need to take some time to let your body heal. Once you are better, it sounds like you can do this job, based on your experience with cleaning.
Get well soon!

You need to see a medical professional to find out eactly what is wrong with your back, and how you can help it heal.
Where I work, if we get back injuries, we are put onto lighter floors, or moved to a ward clerk or desk job until we heal up.
Thanks everyone for the replies, I went to the doctors today and he said I have a herniated disk, and to not use my back for a while. I called my boss and she is going to try to place me somewhere else. She is not sure if she can. I am so mad at my stupid body!
Urgh! I'm so sorry. I hope they can maybe get you a desk job or something for a while. Heal up soon!
