Things you wish you knew before starting new job.....

Published

Hi,

What do you wish you knew before you started your first acute care job?

There has been a couple of years since I graduated and I am sure there are a lot of things I have forgotten. What should I study, make notes of or what books out there do you recommend I get to help me get prepared for the acute care setting? Thanks for your answers, and God bless! :nurse:

What type of acute care setting will you be starting in?

Specializes in Emergency.

You need to be more specific......"acute care setting" is just too broad of a topic. Acute ortho, trauma, neuro, respiratory, renal, oncology, gen med, gen surg, ......

Have you looked to see if there's a nurse refresher course offered locally?

Medical surgical is more of what I was thinking.

The refresher course will not work with my schedule, and a little too pricey for me right now.
