Hello all,
I've been contacted by a couple of pharmaceuticial/biotech companies for positions such as Therapeutic Specialist or Clinical Liason, specifically recruiting nurse practitioners. Does anyone have any experience in such a role or know an NP that took such a job?
The Clinical Liason is an NP (or MD) that provides presentations on drugs to providers. These are clinicially focused presentations on the drug, best practices in prescribing, effectiveness, etc. It is thought that a clinician speaking to other clinicians is more credible and can be truly helpful. I have listened to some of these at my current employer and they are informative. The salesperson does their thing separately.
I was just contacted for a Therapeutic Specialist position, and this seems to be more of a direct sales role.
My concern is that I don't want to lose my NP skills and experience, and also, for relicensure one has to work a certain # of hours as an NP. Note: In my previous career I had sales responsibilities.
The recruiters say these are highly sought-after roles and a lot of NPs would like to have them. True, or recruiter hype?
Any insights would be appreciated.
