The University of Texas at Arlington - PMHNP Program

Published

Some of my experience with applying because I found it too difficult to get any information on the program. I was starting to think it was top secret.

1. I called an advisor to ask if they had a PMHNP program online and was told no.

2. I called again and got a different advisor who said yes. It is in fact fully online (as far as I know but I never actually started).

3. I applied to the program and got in with ease.

4. I attended a 4-hour orientation where I was told we cannot do clinicals where we work (This was later clarified and was not true. I was informed by the director via email that we could do with anyone not our direct supervisor even if we work together). We were told that a few of the classes were synchronous (have to attend online during specific times and days of the week), but we would be told months in advance. I went to enroll in my first two courses and 1 of them was three hours every Wednesday. I was sure that this was not accurate because I would have been told months in advance and not as soon as I go to enroll two weeks before class starts (I had just gotten accepted). I called an advisor and was then informed that most of the core classes and specialty specific classes were synchronous. This would not work for me as I work Mon-Fri. Luckily for me I enrolled into two programs and the other one has been far more organized and helpful.

5. During orientation we were told the program would be about 3 years. The degree plan I received displayed Spring 2025-Summer 2027 full time. I was then informed that if I went part time, it would take roughly 1 more year.

6. Practicum-Clinical hours are at the end of the program.

This is very informative. I applied their Acute Care track for Fall of 2025. I wish I knew more about that as well but your info is close enough.

Thank you for this information. I applied for Fall 2025. Hoping I get in with ease too😀

Did you stay with this school or decided to go somewhere else?

I ended up going somewhere else because I work Monday-Friday and I couldn't be available the hours they required for class.

Please, Has anyone received a decision for Pmhnp fall 2025 at UTA?

Whew did you end up going that didn't have required class hours and was online? So basically what you're saying is even though the online says online you still have to be online at certain times?

That is correct. At UTA, the first semester I was to be available like specific hours on a certain day of the week for at least one of the courses. I think it's manageable if you work 3 days a week but I do 5 days. Texas Tech I believe is fully online but is a little more extensive to apply and have low availability. I ended up going to Walden University and they have been amazing so far. Everything is very much organized. It is almost exactly like the UTA RN-BSN program.
