Hello! I didn't see this topic started so I wanted to get it going. I have applied for this cohort and from reading other streams it looks like July is when they send out invites. Seeing that it is a mix of emotional intelligence and clinical questions.

Hi everyone!! 
I am currently working in CVICU and preparing to start applying to programs by next year. I would be so appreciative if anyone wouldn't mind sharing why they chose to apply to UTC and what the app/interview process was like. I am not asking for specific interview questions more so the timeline between steps and any preparation tips you'd be comfortable sharing. Here are my tips from my experiences interviewing with UTC (Tupelo)

1. Show humility, if you don't know an answer, don't fake it, because everyone in the room is way smarter than you and it will only make them uncomfortable. Instead, think out loud, work around the problem, tell them what you do know about the (drug/pathophysiology/vent setting) and try and draw conclusions from the information you do know. 

2. Don't be overly nervous, they really weren't scary. I made what I felt to be a couple boneheaded mistakes but they really didn't tear me apart like they could have. My favorite person at the table was actually the chief Anesthesiologist for NMMC, he seemed to be my biggest cheerleader during the interview so I appreciated that, LOL.

3. Have a good question ready for them at the end of the interview. I felt like this is really where I made ground in both of my interviews simply getting to talk to them without as much pressure.

 

As far as the application, I don't know if I have any great advice other than get it done! ? 

Here are my stats because I would've wanted to know them in your shoes: GPA 3.61, science GPA 3.39, nursing GPA 3.39, GRE 313, 2yr 3mo at a level 3 trauma ccu/cvicu, 70 shadowing hours, no grad level work. 

I ended up getting accepted into UAB which worked better for me and my spouse, so I waived my UTC seat. I was just a tinge disappointed though, I really liked the vibes I got from the UTC faculty, and the students who hosted us before the interview really seemed to love it.

Hi! I'm hoping to apply to UTC's program but in the admission requirements it states you must have a Tennessee RN License or a multi-state licensure. Does anyone know if that has to be current when you apply or at the start of the program? I am assuming it is a current licensure but I wanted to make sure. I'm not from Tennessee and the state I live in isn't part of the multi-state licensure so I don't want to apply and end up wasting my time or the school's time if they require that at the time you apply. I reached out to the program via email but haven't heard anything back. Thanks!
