Hello all,
I wanted to start a topic about the University of Alabama dual DNP (FNP/pmhnp) program as I have not seen much information on it.
I have sent in my application for Spring 2025, if you are also applying please reach out and share your experience. If you have graduated from this program or another DNP specialty from UA please feel free to share some insight.
For reference:
I sent in my application on 3/14
I had 2 letters of recommendation sent in by 3/21
the third letter was sent in 3/31
Has anyone had any experience with the timelines for a decision?

If you start in the fall and I'm accepted and start in the fall also, we must become friends and study buddies. I am all about having resources and "phone a friend" when things get tough.
Hi I just applied for the fall 2024 BSN-DNP PMHNP. Is there an interview as part of acceptance process? & maybe we can connect too? incase I get accepted as well. It's always good to have a connection with someone in the program.

They do offer part time study but in that it will take longer to complete. So depending on your goals you can see what works. I start Spring 2025. And yes there is an interview process it's about 5 questions and pre-recorded.

Congratulations & thank you! So I'm just realizing now that I'm confusing two schools. I'm very far out of state just seeking online hence the no familiarity. I meant University of South Alabama. Not University of Alabama. But thank you again ☺️
Congratulations to all who have been accepted. Thank you for such informative posts. I had my virtual interview on 7/1. Not so sure what to think of it. I am very anxious about their final decision. How long is the wait time to get an answer? If I do get accepted, I will be starting Spring 2025. It's the dual DNP PMHNP & FNP. I pray that I get in the program. I will be working full time as well.

Congratulations! Yes I was exactly where you were a couple months ago. It took a good while to hear back about 2-3 1/2 weeks after the interview. I believe it's mostly based on when you apply and how busy they are. I've heard that an interview is a great sign in the right direction so try and hold on to that positive. You are starting in Spring with me and the same program. We should definitely keep in touch. Let me know when you get your decision email. Best of luck but I'm sure you've got it. As per the interview, the questions weren't too bad I just prefer a face to face interaction a bit better but once you answered all questions and you were able to articulate yourself decently I think you are good!
Hi all! I am wanting to apply for dual FNP/PMHNP at UA and have some questions.... I currently work full time and have 3 kids (13,10, 16months haha) and was wondering if you think I could handle it. I did my BSN online at UF during covid and working in the ER/Trauma, so I definitely had stress LOL. My question for you all, did you guys find any scholarships/grants? It looks like it will be about $10,000-$12,000/year, if I researched correctly? Once you did you application, how long was it to schedule the interview? And then how long after interview did you find out if you were admitted? Also, have you heard what the graduation rate is or passing rate? How difficult are all the classes? I spoke to an advisor and she told me I can turn it in to part time if needed but couldn't speed it up.
And I believe that they told me I would have to come to campus roughly 3-4 times throughout the program. Just checking to see if that's what you all were told as well.
I looked at other dnp programs (UF) but UA has a dual and seems to be the better choice. Are there any other schools that offer online solely that are dual DNP? I looked at LSU but it seems like it isn't fully online.
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get them all answered before I pull the trigger. haha
Thank you and Congrats on your acceptances!!

Hello!
so sorry for the late response. Ask for having kids and school... well it's personal as you know your motivation and what support system you have to help out. I do have a 1.5yr old and I'm nervous for what it entails. But this is the first time I'm a mom and I'm no expert in parenting. I will say they do have the option for part time if need be. My process took about 1.5-2 months to find out I got in.
did you end up hearing back?
Nursekelly1028 said:I reached out to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) and she sent me an email saying I was waitlisted. I know I bombed the interview portion. 😞
Awww I'm so sorry that's not the news you wanted to get. Although, that means there is still hope 🙂 I know about 2-3 people that got accepted but decided to go elsewhere, hopefully that would mean they will open up spots and one could be for you! Don't beat yourself up too much on bombing the interview, it's not an accurate representation of how capable you are nor is it a determining factor of how far you can go.
have you applied to other schools?
