I need everyone's advice here. I finished my pre-reqs for the nursing school @ occ this passed fall of 06. I went to the information session, and that kind of told me that I may need to transfer out because they made the requirements impossible to get in. I'll be honest, the A&P classes really killed me. i got a C in both of them. My chances are sooo slim now.
Im thinkin about transfering to MCC, because they're gonna take my last 12 credits. I'm just afraid to take the HESI. My friend claims she has a 4.0 got a 91% on the hesi, and still wasnt accepted, but I think she may be exagurating a bit.
She also told me that my chances are better at OU. ill have to wait, but atleast ill get in, is what she told me.
what's your honest opinion. please!

I say go for it. If you don't at least try, you may always wonder if you could have gotten it. I am starting the nursing program at MCC this August. PLEASE don't be afraid of the HESI, it's really not that bad! I got into the program with a 3.85 GPA for my most recent 12 credits and with a 96% on the HESI. As a comparison for you, my cousin only had a 3.2 GPA and an 84%...so no, she didn't get accepted.
I have a hard time understanding why your friend wouldn't have gotten in with a 4.0/91%...perhaps she exaggerated on one of those figures, or maybe some credits she thought would transfer did not. That happened to someone in my Micro class...she had a 4.0, a HESI score in the 90's and was devastated when she didn't get in. She found out that two classes from another school she assumed would transfer didn't...so her GPA wasn't the 4.0 she thought it was! I felt so bad for her. Perhaps your friend just doesn't want you as competition when she try's again?
So, to sum up my ramblings, apply to MCC, OU and anywhere else you may want...don't let doubts creep in a eat away at your confidence! BTW, for a great way to help prepare for the HESI go to www.testprepreview.com, click on 'Nursing Exam Practice' in the left column, and there will be all sorts of subjects to quiz yourself on. Oh, and MCC does NOT test on the Chemistry, Biology, or AP sections of the HESI! Just the Vocab, Reading Comp, Math, Gen Knowledge, and Grammer. Good luck to you!

I would add to the excellent comments above not to take one person's advice about your future. Find out the facts for yourself and go right to the college for your answers. Good luck to you.
Thanks NB, Ill take that into consideration
Simpleplan, it's not really about just taking one person's advice. I've been thinking about this since last fall. If I don't get in in 07, and 08 will be impossible where do I go?
I'm not the most intelligent person, and I know my limits, I know i can get through nursing school, I will just struggle through, but I just don't know who will take someone who has C's in A&P 1 and 2. Both professors were pretty ridiculous, even the smart kids were annoyed.
I'm going to talk to the MCC counselor tomorrow and see what my likelyhood is there.
At MCC they only look at your GPA from your most recent 12 credit hours, not just at the GPA from the prereq's for the Nursing Program. So your best bet is to take 12 credits of "blow-off" classes this fall, take the HESI no later than January, and have all of your paperwork (transcripts ect) in by the February deadline. Since there is no waitlist at Macomb, if you do well on the HESI and have a high GPA there's no reason why you won't have a good shot at starting the nursing program sometime during the 2007/2008 school year.
