While we today celebrate singers, artists and the (odd) Kardashian (s), IN the UK, around 1840s to 1860s, many people bought Staffordshire figurine (made cheaply at factories and painted by the piece at pennies). Figures included Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale who was the 'rock star' of her age.
There were many made but Florence was a popular one. Without TV newspapers, magazines...this is how they celebrated those who made their life better.
