The 6month period

Published

A nurse that graduated a year before me had said that she and 50% of her classmates had changed jobs around the 6month mark. For my class it is around the 6month mark and one had quit, and one had decreased her hours to 2days a week. I am not sure about the whole class. I am having a hard time with my schedule too and I am thinking about decreasing my hours from four nites a week to 3nites and do some more pool hours at a LTC facility. Or I may just wait till spring or summer to do that. Just wondering how others handle the 6month spot.

[color=olive]at the 6-mo mark, i was just starting to get the "hang" of my job, and was beginning to really love it again. i had no intention whatsoever, of changing jobs. sorry if i'm not any help.

Of the classmates I've kept in touch with, I think most are still in the same places although several have moved. I feel like I'm just starting to get comfortable enough where I enjoy going to work, and I plan on staying in my unit for a long time. From what I've seen here on the boards though, I think it's pretty common for new grads to move around pretty quickly, particularly if their first job was not in an area where they really wanted to be.

I've been at the job almost 9 months and I am changing jobs. Out of my classmates, well the one's I keep in touch with still, only 3 of them have changed jobs. I don't know about my class as a whole though! I am kind of the opposite from what I see in this thread. I loved my job until a couple months ago. The floor just seemed to go downhill and several of us have left. Hopefully my new job will be more of a forever fit for me. I can pray!

I hit 6 months on the 18, and I'm looking to transfer. I'd like to stay at the same hospital, but I have to get away from the floor I'm on now.

Of course, I could hit that mark and decide I love my job. Whatever.
