The intensity of being a nursing student?

Published

Could some Canadian nursing students give me an idea of what the intensity level of nursing school is like for you? I am starting my first year of teaching this year, have just completed a very intense 5 year program. I know that I could never put myself through that kind of crazy schedule (8 courses a term and working part time) again. On a normal week I would usually put in 70-80 hours into school alone, is nursing like that too? The applications start in November and I am conflicted about whether I should apply. If i decide this is something that I really still want to do after this year, then at least my application will have gone through either way and it's coming up so soon!

I am going into my second year of the BScN program.

From my experience its not impossible nor would I say "hard". It takes a lot of dedication and work but its possible. I also work part time 12-15 hrs a week and I manage to still make time for my social life.

Im not saying that its easy but if you work hard -- you will be able to do it and make time for relaxation.

Also you MUST stay on top of things, that is what has allowed me to accomplish my first year and have a good average.

PS 70-80 hrs a week is CRAZZZZY!

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks, that makes me feel better. And it was crazy! I wasn't happy and i started to fall out of love with everything. I wouldn't want that to happen if i chose another program! Where do you go to school?
