The Effect of June 2006 PNLE Leakage Scandal - An Online Nursing Research Study

Published

To all Filipino nurses working in the USA,

Greetings of Peace!

I am a nursing student currently doing my undergraduate nursing research study. I am required to contact all possible Filipino nurses working in the USA to hear their views regarding the effect of Philippine nursing licensure examination leakage scandal last June 2006.

I have designed an online questionnaire for the respondents to fill-up using their internet connection. Moreover, initial chapters of my research paper were presented online for your perusal.

I would like to guarantee that all the informations given will be treated with utmost confidentiality and will be utilized only for the research purpose. If you are not comfortable giving away your personal informations, please don't do. There are sensitive items in the questionnaire that are made optional; either your provide it or not is up to you. Here are the web links:

Again, I am requesting for your help. If you are a Filipino nurse working in a particular state in US, please sign-up the form as the respondent of this study. If you know someone working in that state or in other states, please don't hesitate to forward this message. Your participation is vital to the success of this undertaking. Thank you and more power!

Sincerely,

Edited to fit the purpose and as per suggested by moderators.

I made optional some sensitive items on the questionnaire. I am calling again for your support. Thanks.

Unfortunately, we get people posting quite a bit about research for their thesis, and many of them have been nothing more than recruitment scams; sorry to say.

When is your thesis actually due?

Dear Suzanne,

I appreciate your informing me. I am quite aware about the scams on the net and I find it hard to convince the folks about the sincerity of my intention. Previously, I made contact with lots of Filipino nurses working in the states through the email address they posted on their organization's websites. Unfortunately, I got nothing for a reply. So I decided to make an online version of my thesis paper so they can peruse its contents and decide whether they will participate or not, although on my part I wish so hard they would. I even modify my online questionnaire so that sensitive items like email addresses and license numbers will be optional. They can have it answered or not, it's entirely up to their discretion. I made these moves just to ensure their privacy and security. I don't have any choice because I am very eager to pursue this study and I have no way of contacting my target respondents other that forum like this and their official websites. when I heard from Laurence that he liked my research and that he helped me vouched for the continuity of this post in your website, I was glad enough that somehow my effort has been appreciated. Scams are only good if email addresses of the people involved is revealed. This is why I consider this issue and made optional the email address portion of my questionnaire. What is important now to me is to hear from the respondents their views of the other questions. I hope I shed some light into this matter and hoping that any concerned people here can help me in the best way they can because I know and I believe that these types of studies benefits a lot of people and that doing a research on the net can be worth the challenge. Thank you in advance. :specs:

Sincerely,

Oh I almost forgot Suzanne....By the way I am a bit rushing the data gathering because it was suppose to end last December, and due to minimal response I received so far, I extended it until the end of this month. I hope I can have sufficient responses by then. Part of the reasons was due to my habit of procrastination. Had I only revised and made these changes earlier, I would be able to get the desired sample size by now.

How long does your paper need to be? You need to have more specifics about your thesis as well.

Again, without being specific as to what you are looking for, most are not going to wish to participate in this. We have all seen too many issues in the past and that is why you are not seeing any responses to this. Including responses the other way that you contacted people in the past.

And what you are calling a thesis is just a research paper in most other countries. Thesis is something that is written for the Master's degree in most other countries and takes considerable time to prepare and write.

The way that you are expecting to get responses in not an adequate sampling, so results will be entirely skewed to begin with and not an appropriate cross sampling as would be required.

If you notice, no one else has responded to your posting here other than me.

You may wish to look at other avenues for getting the information that you need, or change the basis of your paper.

Dear Suzanne,

Regarding the specifics of my nursing research is stated on the Statement of the Problem of my initial nursing research paper. The webpage is already given and all the respondents have to do is to go to that webpage and peruse its contents. Everything is stated there. These research paper was started last year and only after the preliminary oral defense that I made contact with the respondents. I formulated the questionnaire last May of 2007 and it only generated minimal responses. I understand because during that time, some sensitive items are not edited and they might have taken it as a scam. I was scheduled to defend the final morificecript by February and I am kind of rushing my data gathering because I feel I am running out of time. I don't know what more needs to be done just to persuade them that this undertaking is legitimate.

One other problem is that you did not put an appropriate title for your thread in the first place, so many are not going to read this.

Many just look at things that they think will interest them, and this does not tell them anything. You need to have them interested right from the beginning.

Same way that threads that just state help also do not get much attention most of the time. If you notice, I am still the only one responding to this.

Dear Suzanne,

Yeah you said it right. Can I change my topic title?

I mean thread title...
