The director for our program is MEAN!!

Ok, maybe mean is the wrong tword, but she is just not NICE!!

Our class has been blessed with a LOT of extraverts. We have a LOT of fun, and love being with each other. Even our instructors have commented on how well our class gets along. There are times when we can be loud, but we are all doing very well!

The director at our school is cranky to say the least, and rude in my opinion. She walks into our classrooms, and walks up to the front of the class, never says a word, stands infront and whispers to the instructors. We get a 10 minute break EVERY hour... she should just wait. Especially considering the fact that she is usually just telling her we are too loud. OR in the least, if she has to interrupt our time, Address US, and tell us. Lat week when in lab, the instructor was boosting a student in the bed, and the director came in and actually put her hands infront of this students face (to block her from hearing what was being said) jsut to tell the instructor we were being a bit too loud and another class had a test going on, and would appreciate some cooperation... TOTALLY understandable, but WHY make such a specticle about it, and WHY be so freaking RUDE?? Today, she comes in during lab, observes us, and then when we were done, our instructor asked us to volunteer to help move tables back. Well the director singled out one student by name and told her, You WILL help. Good grief. We are not children, and she WAS helping at that moment! This lady just always needs something to be ticked off about! She also reprimanded another student in the hall, who was advising a classmate to go and speak with the instructor about an issue with a test. The director stopped the student mid-sentence and said "When did you get you teaching degree?? We here, do not blame instructors for students mistakes" OMG get real! What happened was.. we had a 30 word cross-word puzzle as part of our test. This other student is from a different country, and had NO CLUE how to do a cross word puzzle. He jsut wrote the words next to the "description/clue" but left the puzzle blank. So the advice was.. go to the instructor and talk to her, see if she can make some arrangments for you, or show you how to do the cross word puzzles.

Dealing with this director is ridiculous. She acts like she is paying US to be there... not the other way around. We are paying for an education, not intimidation and abuse.

Are all programs like this??

I don't know how our DON is she's never there. The only time I saw her was during orientation and she taught one class for two weeks called vocational training which equalled testing you on the nursing school's handbook to make sure you read it.

I know that she has no right to put her hands in anyone's face and if it was me I would have told her so and if she threatened me I would have very calmy asked her who her supervisor was and let them know what she did. Is this happening with the same instructor. Maybe somethings going on between the two of them and she's not making a scene because of you guys but because of her.

I think that in order to be the director you have to be much like Joe Pesci in "Casino". J/k. Seriously though, I have been reading posts re: directors and it appears most of them are at best quirky, and at worst little Hitlers. Mine is somewhere in the middle. Yours sounds like she has a real problem with noise. Maybe she is the bionic woman. Hehehe.

Some people always seem to get their giggles from power tripping all over the little guys. Try to grin and bear it, and if you find that your face plaster is cracking, take it up with the Dean of Student Affairs or equivalent at your school. The only thing about taking these complaints up the ladder is that I believe they have the right to know who made the complaint (maybe I'm wrong???). If that's the case, then she could possibly find ways to retaliate without appearing to be doing so.

In the end its totally up to you. How much longer do you have vs. how much can you take? Good luck.
