How much did you spend, in all, by your estimations for school and what was your money status at the time (using spouse's income to supplement, or total loans, what?). I'm not worried about it, I just wondered what some of your experiences were.
If any of you mind sharing, please do and if you would rather not, then I understand. I just wanted to throw it out there and see what the response was. Thanks to those of you who responded. I appreciate it.
That is true. And if you are going down in philadelphia, we will probably have some of the same clinical experiences.
Actually, we don't go to philly for clinicals.
We are going to be there only for Valley review come next year(2006)
We are restricted for clinicals in the North East Pa area. We venture into North West NJ to supplement our regional.
65K!is that for tuition only?
I applied to the Univ. of Scranton, but declined their interview because I couldn't fit it in with my work schedule. I was working every day they wanted me to interview, which sucked. They would not give me a 1:1 interview, and we were so short staffed at the time, I could not get anyone to cover me. They actually suggested to me to call in sick for the interview. That was when I said thanks but no thanks. I got into a good program anyway.
Nevertheless, I hear they have a good program, and wish you the best. The program I am attending is one of the cheapest around, so I hope I get the best bang for my buck so to speak. I will be taking classes with some of the other schools down in philadelphia, as they do some combination seminars, classes, etc.
My program has been very reasonable...$20,000 for the 27 month program. The anesthesia school has disolved its relationship with UMDNJ and is now partnering with Drexel. The tuition will now increase to $65,000. As athomas91 says, that's a lot of beans, but it's well worth it.
To answer the OP, my tuition is $20,000 and I have to borrow another $55,000 or so for living expenses (I have a house, 2 kids, 2 dogs and a car payment). My wife is an RN, so she has a pretty decent income. We borrowed enough so that our standard of living did not have to fall too much. ie: We can still sign the kids up for extra curricular stuff, go out to eat, see a movie etc. I just refinanced my house and saved a few $$$ so I may not need all the money I borrowed. If I have some left over, I will either give it back or use it as a low interest loan to build a new deck on my house :wink2:
In the end I will have about $75,000 of anesthesia loans + $18,000 lingering from my undergrad. Boy, I can't wait to actually have a real paycheck again!!

Will that tuition hike also apply to your class even though this is all happening mid-stream?
If it is then, i am sure how fair that is.
