I won't be finished with my pre-reqs until the end of next December. I was wondering what the quickest way to get into a nursing program would be?
I'm currently going to OCC and I'd love to get in for Fall '09, but i'm not sure if I can. Should I apply to Oakland university? Also, what programs start winter semester? Thanks!

Hi there, I see no one has responded to your post and I thought I might chime in with my two cents...
My suggestion is to try to apply to as many nursing schools as you possibly can. You should also speak with the counselor for the nursing department at other schools, so you can know what your chances are of getting into those school's programs. Most CC's and Universities in the area have a waiting list. Verify what the criteria is for getting on their waiting lists and get on it.
Another option is to go the LPN route first. I don't think many school's have a waiting list for their LPN programs (not sure), but you can always double check with the school's counselor to see what the criteria is for that. I know a young lady who went the LPN route and is already working in the field and is doing a lot of the things RN's do. She works in a nursing home but she said she is glad she went the LPN route because she needed the money, and she said she became a nurse before many of her friends even got into an ADN program...
I know your post was regarding how to become an RN relatively quickly (more quickly than what your current outlook is at OCC), maybe the LPN-RN route might be the way. Good luck to you in your endeavors. Be bleesed! :)
Sorry for the long reply.

Most private colleges and universities have no waiting list. If speed of entry verses cost is most important you could go that route.
