The best floor to work on???

I think that most of the hospitals require at least 6 months of experience in long term facility before even they will look at your application. But if you get a job at hospital without experience, take what they will give you. After a while you can transfer to a different unit.

well if you are lucky enough to choose, i would suggest "rehab" in a hospital, but you would most likely have a high ratio and get alot of walking in, or maybe a low census "psyc". i love working psyc and acute. i also worked icu and i thought it was great!

In your opinion, what's the best floor to work on? There are lots of pct jobs open at the hospital, and I'm not sure which floor to apply for once I'm done with my cna training. I don't like trauma (bloody, gory situations) and I don't like lots of mortality (oncology I guess). what do u think?

Lol, I definitely love working down in the ER and in oncology. Nowadays I don't get to work on the onc unit (I'm preggo) but the atmosphere there was fabulous (great teamwork, care, etc). The only thing that sucks about onc is the frequent exposure to chemo (not 100% safe even with all the PPEs we wear).

Working down in the ER can be great too because it's so fast paced and you get to see things that you wouldn't otherwise see on other units. Our hospital doesn't really do trauma care but we do get our fair share of psych patients!
