Hello. I am new graduate ASN RN and am currently interviewing for my first nursing position. I have not worked in the field prior to nursing school.
I went on an interview that I am super excited about. I was advised to send a thank you letter. Can I get some feedback before I send it?
Hello Ms. *****,
This is *******. It was a pleasure to meet with on Wednesday afternoon to interview for the Registered Nurse position at the ******. I wanted to thank you for being so friendly and gracious. I left excited after learning about the unique aspect of ****** Life Care model and feel that with the residents having such a high degree of input into their care, it would allow me the most advantage of advocating for their needs as a Nurse and community resource.
I further wanted to thank you for your valuable advice regarding new graduate nurses and their first position in the field. You mentioned the reputation of "nurses eating their young" and I wanted to reinforce to you that I welcome the challenge to prove that I have skin "thick enough" to be shaped into a valuable member of your team.
After the interview I am even more convinced that ******* is the kind of company that I want to work for, and if selected for this opportunity, I will pour my heart and soul into being the best Nurse and advocate I can be for your residents.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thank you
J.Adderton, BSN, MSN

I can tell you are excited about this position and good luck! I have a few minor suggestions- take what is helpful and leave what is not.
I would leave off "This is _____". Your signature/name at end of letter is sufficient identification.

It was a pleasure to meet with you on Wednesday, February xx.
It was exciting to learn about the unique aspect of XXXXXX Life Care model. I look forward participating in a plan of care that places priority on patient input. I enjoy advocating for patient needs by utilizing available community resources.
The second paragraph reads like you are giving permission to be mistreated. Good idea to thank her for the practice and maybe "Your advice will be beneficial as I start my nursing career.
Great job and good luck!
Thank you for commenting. I hadn't thought about that looking like permission to be abused. She was very forthcoming that it is common in nursing in general, but that their hearts are in the right place. I also don't think she was speaking about her facility in particular, but the field in general.
I am rewording some based on your suggestions. thanks agai!
How does this sound:
