Texas Tech FNP Fall 2018

Published

I don't see a Fall 2018 thread for the FNP program at a Texas Tech, so I thought I'd start one. I submitted my application in December, now just anxiously awaiting to get accepted or rejected. I hope I got everything submitted correctly, in the portal it shows everything is there but there is no final "application complete" indicator for the supplemental items. It just says 12/12 items received. Hopefully it's all good.

I was accepted to UTA's online FNP program, but I declined it due to the high tuition cost and after hearing some negative reviews of their program. Texas Tech is where I really want to go, so very much hoping to get in!

I have almost six years as an RN. The first couple of years I was an ER nurse. Then I worked in psych for a while before moving to my current position in day surgery. My GPA in nursing school was only 3.7, which worries me somewhat since I know Texas Tech is highly competitive to get into. However, I have a ton of volunteer work so I am hoping that boosts me a little. I have decided that if it's meant to be, I'll get in...and if not, I'll apply to some different programs for 2019. But, I really hope I get in!

I also got my acceptance letter today. Denners916, do you live in the area?

I don't live in the area. I currently live in Bryan. I look forward to starting!

To be honest I don't know what my GPA was. I know for sure it was not a 4.0. I have been an ER RN for 4 years and that was enough with my letters of rec and my essays. Good luck for the next round.

I got my acceptance for the Fall 2018 FNP program yesterday!

I got rejected too. :(. I have 3.76 GPA and 12 years experience, 4 in the ER, 8 in PACU and 2 in interventional IR. Maybe my essay wasn't enough? When it's meant to be it will happen I suppose.......

Congrats on yalls acceptance!

Hi guys,

My name in Michelle - I live in Lubbock and work at University Medical Center on a post-surgical floor. I received my acceptance letter on Monday for the FNP program! I went to TTUHSC for my undergrad and loved it so I'm very excited to get my MSN FNP from there again. Best luck and congrats to all who have been accepted!

Hi- Im starting the Fall 2018 FNP program as well!! Ive been en ER nurse for 4 years- I live in FORT WORTH, anyone accepted in the DFW area?? If you do, shoot me an email [email protected] and maybe we can network!

Also, anyone have any details or info on Tech's FNP program, Ive heard its great.

Speaking of the program, does anyone know how long it is? Someone said it was 2 years, others said it's 2.5 to 3 years. I got a full admission. I guess there was a part time.

Specializes in ER.

I will be moving to Lubbock soon and thought of applying for this program. It looks hard to get into. I just finished my FNP, but want a post masters for AGACNP as well. I had a 3.9 graduate school GPA.

Hi, I was just excepted into the Peds NP program in spring of 2019. Was wondering about the book list. I wanted to get ahead in my reading. I'm going to send you an email...oh and I'm from the DFW area. I work in Fort Worth, live in Crowley.

I was looking into applying for the fall 2019 FNP at TTUHSC. Like some of you that have posted on this thread I did my RN to BSN through Texas Tech and really enjoyed the program. Does anyone know if the research course requirement for admission into the MSN program is fulfilled by the BSN course NURS 4373. Its "Introduction the Evidence". I ask because I'm concerned I need to take some other research course to qualify for the MSN program. Thanks in advance for your input í ½í±

Hey @Vincent12! Did you ever get a response to your question about the research course requirement? I applied to the Spring 2023 FNP program and got my accelerated BSN from Tech so I'm hoping my courses suffice. I'm also currently an OR circulator and I see that you were as well. Did you get accepted to the program??
