Congrats!!! I have absolutely no words of wisdom for you, but I wanted to eavesdrop in case anyone else responds because I just got accepted to TT as well :) Yea us! I am a bit concerned though, because I was reading on another post that there is no way to complete the program faster than 8 semesters!?! I did NOT do enough research apparently and did not expect this to take 4 years. Wondering if its too late to apply somewhere else???
Hey There,
I am currently a student at Tech in the FNP track. It is 8 semesters you go through the summer. I started Jan 2013 and will graduate Aug 2015. I looked through a LONG list of college's before applying to here. The NP program has been ranked No 12 in the Nation and the SimLife center is AMAZING!! You will be required to go to Lubbock for two days during the semester's you have clinical's - which are 6 of them. You will have a Diagnostic's and Health Assessment clinical then three primary clinical's that follow your specific track. the OSCE's on campus are very cool and a lot of fun. The faculty is amazing, always willing to meet with you and chat and you can access them anytime (I once called a professor at 10pm and she was awesome!)Someone had mentioned going quicker than 8 semesters and I am here to tell you- you could do it, if you don't work. I work PRN and this last semester I had to cut back to 2 days a week because it was that intense. Let me know if you have anymore ??
Good Luck! Congrats!

Awesome, thank you for the info!! I do have a few more questions for you if you don't mind. How many people are in your class? What kind of computer do you use? I have an HP PC desktop and need to get a laptop. I was thinking I might bite the bullet and get a Mac because I despise Windows 8 (and apparently they don't even recommend it). BUT doing all the virtual orientation stuff I noticed that with most of it being power point, they said over and over that if you are using a Mac you might have trouble viewing. Don't want to spend all that money on a MacBook and still have to use my desktop for school. Any thoughts? Thanks!!
I believe there are 40-50 of us. I know that when I applied there was something like 4,000 applicants and they only take like 200 for ALL tracks. I use a regular PC which has served me well, I bought a new laptop when I started and it's starting to wind down and year and half later. Don't worry about the software, you can buy it through the schools IT department for like 10$ When I went through orientation the IT guys were like "you should buy a MAC" it really boils down to preference. I think when I buy a new one it will be a MAC.
Congrats to everyone!I am also starting the acute care program this fall. I spoke with the advisor and she said you can go full time and complete the program faster. The only restriction is that you must take practicuum 1 in the fall and practicuum 2 in the spring. So you would have to complete the other courses accordingly. Do you guys live in the lubbock area? I am in Fort Worth. I have been worried about finding our own preceptors!!

I just got accepted into the ACNP program at Texas Tech and will start in the Fall. Anyone in that program currently? How is it going?
