i recently got one of their news letter in the mail. i thought to myself hey a texas nurses association i want to join. but wait only rns can join, rn must stand for real nurses. i am an lvn, and proud to be. i am currently in a lvn to rn transition program, and when i graduate they can forget ever having me as a member. i was shocked and appalled not only by their membership policies but their website as well. these are actual quotes:
tna is the oldest professional nursing association in texas. its members represent all segments of nursing practice, from bedside to administration, consulting to advanced practice, and education to legislation. members come from all practice settings: hospital, home and community health, public health, higher education, long-term care, school health, and policy. and all practice areas.
all segments but lpns/lvns.
as divergent as they are, tna members all share a common purpose: advancing excellence in nursing. it's a pursuit that requires commitment, involvement and leadership -- fortunately, inherent traits of a registered nurse.
us fake nurses don't advance excellence in nursing. and apparently lvns don't also have those traits, i guess we're all uncommitted, careless, followers that try to kill our patients.
moving the nursing profession forward through leadership, advocacy and innovation.
the trailblazer for nursing!
where's the "april fool's"?
be more than a nursing workforce statistic. with professional membership in tna, you can be a powerful voice that speaks boldly for nursing; boldly for the practice environment. through membership, you become a full participator in defining what your profession is and what it should be. you can drive the progress you want to see - both for nursing and for the possibilities within your own career.
thank you tna for reinforcing the notion that lvns/lpns are the scum of the nursing profession.

Does that mean ANA and TNA should be renamed to ARNA & TRNA?
