Texas Compact license but want to move to the west coast.

When you apply for another license are you giving up your original compact license for say a california or washington license or do you get to keep both? Also is there any additional testing or education required to tranfer to these states?

In order to keep the multi-state privileges of a compact license, you need to reside in a compact state. You lose multi-state privileges when you move your primary residence from a compact state to a non-compact state; however you will still retain licensure in the original compact state. You can keep renewing your original license in the compact state for as long as you want (and as long as you can meet licensure requirements).

So if you moved from Texas (compact) to California (non-compact), your Texas license is now good for Texas only; you can't practice in any other compact state while you live in California, unless you get individual endorsements for each compact state that you wish to practice in.

As far as additional requirements for endorsement, that varies in each state, so you really need to contact your target state's BON.
