Texas A&M University Second Degree BSN Spring 2025

Howdy everyone 🙂

I don't think there has been a forum made yet for tamu second degree BSN applicants for Spring 2025! If you're applying for this program and term, I hope we can use this to connect and ask each other any questions we may have!

Hi Amy! Thanks so much for starting this! I applied for Spring 2025 and am checking NursingCAS daily to see if there's an update since the next step (I believe) is a notification to complete another application via ApplyTexas. I'll keep you updated if I hear of anything!

Cheers,

Caylie

Oh wow, please forgive my lack of "Howdy" back to you. I received my first bachelor's at UT Austin (over 15 years ago) so if I get into this program I think I'll have to decondition a lot of Longhorn things to make space for the new Aggie things, ha!

Howdy y'all!

Updates over here that could maybe help people now or in the future when they're looking / researching TAMU for second degree BSN (since I found past threads super helpful). I'll break it down by timeline...

August 1st was the deadline for the first application via NursingCAS.

On August 16th, I received an email that after evaluation of my application, I was missing one prerequisite (that I also hadn't listed as "in progress" in my NursingCAS app) which was Intro to Biology WITH a lab component. I took an Intro to Biology at UT-Austin, but it didn't have a lab component so it didn't fully count. So yes, even if you've taken A&P and Micro...you still need an Intro to Bio with lab. They told me to update NursingCAS and reply to the email with my status of that class so I immediately rushed to find any open classes to get into (and I did). Once I did that, they immediately marked my application as satisfactory and I received the next phase of the application to submit a transfer app via ApplyTexas. This app is the one to transfer into TAMU as a whole and it's where you have the option to write three essays but none are required (two were relevant to me so I wrote them).

On August 20th I received the email to complete the written and verbal assessment via Kira Talent and was given until September 3rd to complete it. To prepare, I took a couple of days to meditate on my "whys" and the journey that led me here - why did I want to be a nurse, why TAMU, why am I driven to do this, what and who led me here, etc. I know that sounds a little deep and cheesy, but it's a sort of consciousness that helps me to remain in tune and therefore true to myself.

So August 22nd I finished the ApplyTexas app and the Kira Talent assessments and on August 24th I received acknowledgement of application to TAMU and was given an ID to get into their Applicant Information System which is basically a portal that keeps you updated on the status of your application with items received/missing (you don't have to resend your transcripts since they were sent with NursingCAS so those will all appear with a red X next to them).

And that's where I'm at as of today! All finished with the application and just hoping for the best. I think I saw somewhere that the decisions will come mid-late October and I can't remember if that's from an official email or from all of the research I did. Either way, I'll update this thread.

To anyone applying now or in the future, I hope this helps and I wish you all the luck!

Thanks for coming to my TAMU Second Degree BSN Ted Talk and Gig'em,

Caylie

Hi y'all,

My name is Kaylee Coffee. I just found out about two weeks ago I got into A&Ms accelerated Nursing second degree program. I am looking for more people that got in and are going to be starting in the Spring 2025. So excited!

Hi Kaylee!

First off, very cool name 😉

Secondly, I forgot to update the thread that I also found out via email on Oct 18th that I also got in! Whoop! I'll never forget the feeling of seeing that email...

Needless to say, I share the same excitement. Congrats on getting in and I'll see ya at the new student conference.

Cheers,

Caylie
