Hey everybody!
I am looking for anyone who will be headed to Corpus this summer to begin the accelerated BSN program. Mainly looking for someone who would like to share an apartment. But any general info about the program or the CC area would be much appriciated!! Also, anyone who might have any suggestions on where to live.
Thanks!

I am going!! :yeah:Feel free to PM me..I would love to get to know someone prior to starting orientation on June 2nd. I was advised to live on campus..and the apartments are too expensive so I am getting a private dorm, not ideal by any means but affordable (450/month) and convenient, a good study environment. So the roommate thing won't work out but nevertheless I can't wait to meet you!

I am not in this program, (I just got into UT Houston) but I just moved away from Corpus where I lived for 6 years. I have tons of useless information on the area and great apartments (for less than a&m housing!!)
Congratulations on getting into UT Houston that is a great program. Any information that you could give me about corpus would be greatly appreciated!!!
Do you know what area of town you want to live in?
I really wanted to stay close to the school
First of all, nothing in corpus is more than a 20 minute drive anywhere! So, that is nice when looking for somewhere to live and planning your clinical sites which are literally all over the city. I would stay on south side (specifically Everhart, S. Staples, Airline, Rodd Field, or Ennis Joslin) or SPID. There are quite a few nice places on SPID. Some are quite pricey, though. I lived at the wharf for a while, just past oso bay on SPID, and as a single female with a baby, I felt safe. DO NOT live in Walnut Ridge on staples. It is the biggest complex, but EVERY person I knew who lived there got their car broken into. I also lived at the Veranda on staples and Saratoga and LOVED it there! Very small and quiet! There are also several nice places on Santa Fe (which would be close to the school) Stay away from IH37, it gets pretty rough over there. And I would not live on the island, it is very nice, but the causeway gets backed up for hours during spring break weeks. I would not live at the shores on Ennis Joslin lots of students there, VERY NOISY and there seems to be a lot of fires. One other thing to take into consideration is the age of the building and number of windows in the unit and which direction the windows or big glass doors face. Most of the apartment complexes are older and have poor insulation, this can make for VERY and I mean VERY high electric bills. Just something to think about!! If you have any questions on a specific apartment or the hospitals, just ask! And GOOD LUCK!!
Thanks I really appreciate all of your recommendations. This is very great information to know, that will definitely help me make a decision about an apartment. The islander village seems like the least hassle since all bills are included and I am pretty close to school and it looks really nice. It is easier to deal with since I am not from Corpus so it seems like less hassle. If you need any help with any info in Houston just let me know cause that is where I am from. I wish you the best with your program at UT Houston!!! CONGRATS!!!!
