Nope. According to both the English department and the RN-BSN department, since none of my classes were formal writing classes, I have to take both classes or test out. Even though I would not have a BA in English if I couldn't write properly.
This school is already annoying me and I'm barely in. ?
I only have to take one english class. I took ENGL1302, Rhetoric and Composition II last spring and it was not a hard class. We chose a topic that was important to use and wrote several different assignments on the same topic. It was a very enjoyable class. I know that isn't the point of this thread, but at the same time I have no idea how one could test out of a writing class.
They have it through the testing center and you write (for 1301) a response to an article by first summarizing it and then writing about a similar topic. For 1302, you write an argumentative essay. They are graded by the freshman professors. You can't take the test for 1302 until you you pass 1301.
For $35, I'd rather just take the essay exams and spend a day in Dallas than sit through extra classes that I know I don't need.

Has anyone ever tested out of English Composition I and/or II? I have a Bachelor's degree in English and think it's absurd that I have to test out of a freshman course. Has anyone ever taken either one (the ASE) and passed? Let me know. Thanks!
