Testing out of HCC classes?

Don't know about testing out of the HCC classes...I took them over the Christmas break and they were the easiest classes yet. Too bad I had to pay money for them. Since they were taken in such a condensed format, I didn't have to purchase one book. Saved at least $100.

Banner will only cover in-state tuition. Don't know if you'd qualify if you're not an AZ resident. Contact them and ask!

I've got almost all of my prereqs done- I just need Bio 202 and those HCC classes. I've heard of people testing out of them, and I was wondering if anyone has taken the tests and can give me a heads up on how difficult they are? Also, do you know if the Banner program accepts students who pay out-of-state tuition? Much thanks!

i tested out of them back in 2001. i worked as a medical assistant for 7 years before that, so i thought they were very easy. i think if you have a medical background, then they should be easy to pass out of. good luck.

I've heard of a few people having problems testing out of them. Depending on your medical background, you may be able to. I've worked in hospitals for about five years, and I am bored out of my mind with these classes (I took HCC 146, and I'm finishing HCC 130 AE & AF). If possible, I would take Medical Terminology. Even though I have a strong A & P background, there were a few procedures that I didn't know. I would sign up for the HCC 146, not HCC 145AA. My friend was taking that class. I took his final exam (it was a take-home), and I passed it with a 90%, before I even started my class!! I don't think that they teach you much. Also, if you later decide to pursue another program (surg tech, nuclear medicine tech), the 2 credit HCC 146 will be a prereq.

As far as HCC 130 is concerned, try to break it up into six pieces and test out of the first 4. HCC 130 AE and HCC 130 AF have some specifics that may be difficult to test out of.

As far as the Banner program is concerned, I think that they will accept out-of-state students, but I don't think that they cover all of the out-of-state tuition. My advice is this - find a job that you can work while in school that will cover tuition (I work for Banner and they cover mine - without the 3 year commitment). Most CNA's/PCT's/ER Tech's and Phlebotomists are premed or prenursing anyway, and this employer is accustomed to the working student atmosphere. As a nurse, the sky is the limit to employment. Why be locked in somewhere for three years when many places will trip over themselves to give a new grad a job and nice salary?
