My brother was just diagnosed with testicular cancer yesterday. Can anyone relate any experiences they have had with this, both personal and professional? I have heard that this is a disease that affects mostly younger men? Thanks!
Thanks for the replies and kind thoughts. Apparently, he had a lump for five months, but it wasn't painful and he thought it would go away. It swelled up pretty bad and that is wat precipitated his visit to the ER.
My brother also got diagnosed with probable testicular cancer TODAY. Same thing - he had some swelling but it didn't hurt, so he didn't bother going to the doctor. Finally went today and it's still painless and firm, so they're figuring cancer. For some reason (probably shock), he won't tell us how long it has been swollen, just that he realized there was actually a lump in that swelling and that's when he went to the doctor.
I feel better after reading this post, though. Hopefully it hasn't spread anywhere and he'll be okay. His wife doesn't want him to freeze sperm because she's afraid he's going to die and doesn't want to raise children alone (they already have a toddler). I hope he'll do it anyway, because chances are it'll be okay and they might change their minds later.
I am still in shock. My brother and I have never really gotten along, at least not until the last 5 years and we're in our 30's. He tortured me as a kid! But now we are fine together. He's my only sibling, and I can't believe this is happening.
