Ugh...I have a test tomorrow on A&P of the Nervous System. (I am in LPN school).

There is just SO MUCH info to know and no other system that we've studied so far has made me this anxious. I just don't know what to study b/c there is just so much information.

The Nervous System and Special Senses covers four chapters of our A&P book. I have read them all, but still just do NOT feel like I know it well enough to take this test.

I'm really worried that I will do bad on the test. I just don't feel prepared.

Anyone have any tips? Are there any websites out there that will help me learn the Nervous System better??

:(

Well, not knowing whats in your textbook or what your instructors expect, I don't know what kind of detail you need to know. But if you still have time, it might help organize your studying to make an outline something like this, and fill it in to the level of detail you think you need to know. The nervous system is pretty straighforward, but it is a lot of stuff to learn and process

Basic neuro stuff:

Structure and function of a neuron: (maybe diagram it for yourself?)

Action Potenial:

Neurotransmitter (what is it?)

Myelin: (what is it, what does it do, what cells produce it)

etc.

Peripheral Nervous System:

Autonomic Nervous System

Basic Functions

Sympathetic Nervous System

Neurotransmitters used:

Parasympathetic Nervous system

Somatic Nervous system

Sensory

Receptor types and function:

CNS

Basic Anatomy:

Grey Matter (what is it?):

White Matter :

etc.

hope that helps a little bit, and good luck :)

How are your textbooks set up? Ours had outlines at the beginning that explained what we would learn in this chapter and review questions at the end. After reading the chapter i would try and answer the questions without looking at the text and then looking it up to se what I missed. Usually the review questions covered what hwe really needed to get out of the chapter.
