Temple Interview

Published

I have an interview with Temple University for their Accelerated BSN program for the Fall 2008. Anyone have any ideas on what to expect? The interview is scheduled for an hour and 1/2 with one of the nursing instructors. I hate interviews!

When I was interviewed for Temple's BSN (non-accelerated) program for Fall '05, it was a "group" interview.

We partnered up with another interviewee (there were 40 of us or so in that group, and they evetually interviewed all 200 that made the GPA cut), and we interviewed each other regarding what made us want to become nurses. After interviewing each other, we then "presented" the other person to the group. It was very clever, because it showed what we thought would be important to ask the other person, how well we could speak regarding a subject we were not prepared for, and how much we projected interest in the other person.

After that, we all were asked a question (we got different questions, and mine related to discussing a Living Will with my family) to give an essay response to.

I have no idea whether they still do this format, but I was impressed that they found a way to interview 200 candidates (out of the 600+ that applied) in a meaningful way. Good luck, and congrats on getting the interview!

The interview was a group interview. This was for the accelerated BSN program. There were only 7 of us there (I believe 12 were scheduled). I was told that they only accept about 10 students out of around 90 applicants, although they were trying to get funding in order to accept more.

We sat around a conference table, talked/asked questions for about 10 minutes then were instructed to interview the person next to us for about 10 minutes and then introduce this person to the group.

We were given an article to read and had about 1/2 hour to write an essay in response to the article.

All in all this was a very pleasant interview. I am anxiously awaiting a reply from Temple now. We should hear within the next few weeks. My entire future plans hinge on this letter so it is making me a little crazy. I will be relieved to find out one way or another and be done with the waiting game.
