telehealth

Is anyone working in telehealth? In your opinion what are the pros and cons?

Not sure what telehealth is exactly. I work triage in a large public health clinic, rare hands on patient care, maybe once per month if that. Notice, I said, HANDS ON, because there is almost always patient care in nursing. Jobs in telephonic case management and triage involve patient care telephonically either through follow up, medical advice, ordering medications or medical supplies, coordinating services.

Pros: easier on the back and feet. Cons: The phone rings non stop and speed in response is expected. You can't leave the call area except for planned breaks, weight gain from lack of mobility, low pay (especially in non-profit ). This is not a good place to start as a new RN if you want to learn skills or move up the nursing ladder. Limited growth potential.

There has to be more pros and cons, but I have only been doing this for 4 monts so that's all that I can think of now.
