Hi everyone.
I've been working on a med/tele floor for the past 2 years. I'm going to crosstrain for ICU. I most admit I'm a little nervous, but very excited. I'm ACLS certified, but in reality haven't been involved in very many codes. I've always tried to ship them to the unit before they code!
Please throw me any pointers or words of encouragement you may have.

Noney, how exciting! I honestly think that if you like tele you're going to love ICU. You need to know so much more about your patients, but you get to b/c you have less patients!
The codes will come, trust me. But there is such teamwork in ICU that it won't be as bad as you think. For me, I knew I was getting the hang of ICU when I could start anticipating what the patient's would need and anticipating the orders from the residents and attendings. It's a great feeling!
Good luck and let us know how you're doing!
Thanks Jaded Nurse
