Computerized charting, pyxis or omnicell systems for medication distributation, tubing systems for sending labs and receiving medications from pharmacy. I know some of these have been around a long time but some hospitals are just beginning to use them and it does save a lot of nursing time. I also love the new beds that have built in scales, can turn into a chair position, rotate and percuss the patients, softer mattresses for those with potential for skin breakdown.

Anyone have any suggestions on a technology that has made an impact on your nursing practice in the last 2 to 3 years? I'm currently working on a research project focused on technology and nursing practice. Any suggestions, big or small, would be very much appreciated!
