the technology in saudi arabia

Hello to all my fellow nurses out there.

I am very interested in working in saudi arabia. (plan to start applying next year!) Something important to me that I have not been able to get information about is: "how advanced in technology are some hospitals in saudi?" After graduating nursing school I have never worked in a facility without the physician order entry computer programs. :typing Thats a big plus because it saves time and errors. Do any of you specifically know of hospitals in saudi who has computer documentation?

Also another unrelated question--I currently work in a burn unit--any hospitals with burn units? which ones if so? I am willing to work step down or ICU but just curious of the burn specialty.

Thank you all.

i am basing my reply from my experience at the hospital where i worked. technology in hospitals in saudi arabia is advanced. they do get the latest equipment especially hospitals for the national guard since these hospitals cater to the king himself, his dependents and the national guards. they also have a nursing education department that gives free continuing education accredited by the california BON so its a plus. They do have a computer system for orders, but their system is not totally paperless. Medications and dosages are already prepared by the pharmacist. Western nurses get higher salaries and better housing. it's a yearly contract and you get free vacation every six months. they do have burn units there and it is one of the best in the middle east region. choose a good hospital though..:)
