I'm looking at entering BSN programs in either Austin area, or San Antonio. How would I go about getting a tech position to take up while in school for the next two years in these areas? Do most hospitals require a CNA or some other certification, or will one semester/one year of nursing school be enough to get me a position somewhere? Any and all info would be appreciated.

Just apply. I don't think that most require a CNA certification but I don't think that it would hurt. Being that you're looking to get into nursing school, I think if you had a semester under your belt, that would be enough.
I got my job as a PCT/nurse extern thru clinicals. During our first semester we had to spend ONE day in the ER- which I was dreading. I was paired up with one of the clinical coordinators who was staffing that day and we had a great day. When it was time for me to go to post conference, she gave me her name and number and told me to call her if I wanted a job. A couple months later, I filled out an application online, she interviewed me, and the rest was history.
Good luck!
