learning outcome

lovenox helps in preventing of clots & deep vein thrombosis (dvt) pulmonary emboli, & recurrent mi

lovenox - anticoagulant, not a blood thinner.

teaching

get lab work done to access for lab values

lovenox best absorbed in abdominal region.

watch dvd that came with lovenox packaging

take special care when brushing teeth, flossing, shaving, & trimming nails.

side effects: bleeding, anemia, constipation, nausea, insomnia, urinary retention, rash, edema

if you miss a dose of, use it asap. if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing.

avoid use of aspirin unless physician prescribes.

teaching methods

swab abdominal area let dry then; give in abdominal area 1 inch from navel.

pinch tissue gently then insert at 90 degree angle.

rotate sites every time injection is given, at least 1 inch apart from each other

to avoid the loss of drug when using pre-filled syringes, do not expel the air bubble from the syringe before the injection.

learning evaluation

have patient describe what lovenox is & what it does.

have patient demonstrate on a rubber surface/manikin stomach

demonstrate proper use & disposal of used needles. in appropriate sharps container.

briefly explain why lab values need to be checked.

ask patient if you expel air bubble or leave in there and what's the reason for leaving the bubble there?

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

is this a teaching plan for a patient or the staff. i couldn't tell.

a teaching plan is very similar to a care plan in its construction. a written teaching plan goes something like this:

  1. overview: a synopsis about what is going to be taught in the course
  2. goal(s): the aim(s) or outcome(s) that you want your learner to achieve as a result of the lesson you plan
  3. objectives: the more specific information that the learner will come away from the course knowing that will achieve the goal(s) you have determined.
  4. content: a play-by-play of the specific content that is going to be taught and in the sequence it will happen. your content should address and cover all the objectives. this part of the written lesson plan is presented in an outline format.
  5. procedures and materials: how all the above will be achieved, i.e. lecture, demonstration, discussion, etc. materials that can be used and resources that can be needed for the lesson to be successful and essential to teaching your lesson plan are listed and may include demonstrations, audio-visuals, handouts, experiments, stories, game playing and any number of other creative items.
  6. evaluation: determining if you met the goals of the teaching plan. this can be done through a return demonstration, short post test, short question and return answer session with the client to verify they understand the information correctly or a task the participant needs to perform.

learning outcome

lovenox helps in preventing of clots & deep vein thrombosis (dvt) pulmonary emboli, & recurrent mi

lovenox - anticoagulant, not a blood thinner.

the
learning outcome
is the overall goal of your teaching plan. it is similar to the goal of a nursing diagnosis. ultimately, what do you want your learners to learn? it should be stated as: the learner will ____

teaching

get lab work done to access for lab values

lovenox best absorbed in abdominal region.

watch dvd that came with lovenox packaging

take special care when brushing teeth, flossing, shaving, & trimming nails.

side effects:

if you miss a dose of, use it asap. if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing.

these should be the actual items you plan to teach.

teaching methods

swab abdominal area let dry then; give in abdominal area 1 inch from navel.

pinch tissue gently then insert at 90 degree angle.

rotate sites every time injection is given, at least 1 inch apart from each other

to avoid the loss of drug when using pre-filled syringes, do not expel the air bubble from the syringe before the injection.

the methods used to teach are things like demonstration, lectures, stories. what you have listed are things that belong with the actual items you want to teach.

learning evaluation

have patient describe what lovenox is & what it does.

some ways to evaluate if your learners have absorbed what you taught them is to question, conference, have them write about what they learned or test the learners. what you have above is fine but i was looking to see where you taught them what lovenox is and what it does. what does
have patient demonstrate on a rubber surface/manikin stomach
mean? i should be able to find all these things in your
teaching
section along with how to properly use and dispose of needles, what the bubble in the syringe is all about or why it is important to check the lab values. none of it is listed there. where is this stuff in your teaching plan?
