I am currently doing my psych health rotation for school and last week my instructor was asking me to come up with more teaching with my client. I am placed on an intensive care unit ad right now my assigned client has schizoaffective disorder. I guess since this rotation is very different than what I am used to I am not really sure where to go with this. I am sure there are many simple examples I am not thinking of for this client but I would love some insight if possible:)

You need to figure out what your client doesn't know, that he/she needs to know to be a healthier person. Also, you need to determine if the client can read or not, or if he is able to pay attention long enough for the length of education you might plan.
What are some of the ideas you've come up with so far?

Thanks for the feedback..
I have been thinking since my post that I might focus on diabetes education. It didn't occur to me as I assumed they would just know about it. I guess I should never assume but ya, they may typically manage it well when they're "good" but lately my fellow has been skipping meals and consequently medications. I have done lots of teaching about DM2 on medicine floor so perhaps I can convert what I did there into a format that will work best for my client here.
Since this is a psych clinical, I think the instructor would prefer that you focus on something psych-related. Is there anything the client needs to know about his disorder, medications, etc?
Hmm...well, as for meds that I will have to investigate further. He has had this disorder for 18 years now and is regularly been seen at our schizophrenic community clinc. I am back with him tomorrow..so I will probe more into it then.
he may not know how his meds work....
