Teaching @ Brown Mackie

Published

Hi all. I've been reading some negative posts about Brown Mackie. I'm wondering if anyone is teaching or has taught for them? I would be VERY interested in the scoop. They have contacted me re a possible teaching position. The salary is only approx. $44,000-$46,000, based on a 40hr week. Please if you see this post and have ANY comments, share them with me. thanks so much everyone!

Yikes! Thanks so much for posting. My husband and I have been laughing about my experience (wasn't laughing at first). I am currently still entertaining different job opportunities, trying to hang on until I find the right thing for me. Yesterday he said, "well, you can ALWAYS work part-time for Brown Mackie." NOT!!!! I hope you're thriving in your Ivy Tech job :).

Wow,

I sign my fin. aid papers later today to attend the Cincinnati branch. I am 44 & trying to get back into Nursing, starting all over. I want to be a RN eventually. Do Brown Mackie credits transfer? They tell me yes? What do I have to do to go further to be a RN? Is Brown Mackie a waste of time? I don't have many choices. I am in the Cincinnati State Program doing their pre-req's, but the waitng list is years! Please help!!

My experience was not a good one-this was a Brown Mackie in Indiana-could be that each campus is different depending upon staff, student demographics, etc. I personally will never have anything to do with them again, but possibly the one you are going to attend will be different. After obtaining LPN, you will need to go to a different institution, such as IVY Tech or another college offering ASN or BSN, whichever you choose to do, as Brown Mackie offers nothing as far as an RN program that I am aware of. As long as you become an LPN your credits would transfer elsewhere for an RN program I would think.

I decided not to go to Brown Mackie. It wasn't for me. They want now 25,000.00 for an LPN course that cost 9,000.00! Not that desperate! Thanks board :yeah:for not letting me make the worst decision of my life!

Hello everyone. Recently Brown Mackie Indiana called me again re a full-time position. I am wondering if anyone has update on them, and if things are any better, or worse for new instructors? At least the person interviewing is the same one that was there when I last posted re this subject, which was this past May '08. I have not responded yet, and could sure use any helpful updates, good or bad. Thanks so much!

One final attempt on trying to get any updated info from anyone familiar with teaching @ Brown Mackie since my original thread last may '08. Are things any better there for instructors? If nobody can help, I'll probably just decline the interview, because I have heard so much negative, but was hoping it had changed for the better. Magical thinking?
