Hey guys,

Just wondering where people claim their acls or occupational improvement courses on their taxes. Called revenue canada and they havn't a clue. I got a tax recipt for the course. Revenue Canada told me that it must be a designated school like a university in order to claim. Doesn't make sense.

help!

Seems like we nurses come out on the losing end with the CRA all the time. We can't claim anything but our union dues and registration fees. No clothing upkeep, no expenses for replacing our shoes, stethoscopes, BP cuffs or other such equipment and no continuing ed unless it's through an accredited school. I suppose one could always try it and see, but I have no faith in our chances.

Thanks Janfrn for clarifying this. My wife and I are ready to send ours off but thought the 500.00 in courses I spent (which come with a tax reciept) might be claimable. arrrgh.

Somewhere along the bottom of my tax recipet is note that says "just kidding"

I gotta friend who did taxes for a living one time, his dad had his own business as well. He said sometimes when you call cra you'll get three different people telling you three different things. He's gonna find out as his sister is running the tx business now and see what line to use.

The guy I spoke to at CRA today did say that alot of times when you sumit stuff like that and if the amount is insignificant they let it slide through. Interesting.

So the point is to send it anyways and they'll make the adjustment if they won't accept it. Just have to make sure you get the right line to go under I guess. I'll post what he acertains.
