No, expenses at home cannot be business expenses generally, especially when you are at home. For example, you might be able to deduct a house sitting expense, but could you do that while at home? I'm curious about "checking on your condo". Have you rented it?

Based on some of the information I've read, I'd assumed it was acceptable -- because I have a personal vehicle that I'll be leaving at my work location, but I'll also be working when I'm home. Seems to meet the "duplicative expenses" requirement.

No, it is not a duplicated expense. You are not working when you are home, exactly what is the duplicated expense? Even if you were to work, you cannot claim a business expense for an abandoned car! That was a personal choice, not a necessary one.
