tattoos in nursing

Nurses Career Support

Published

I have tattoos on both hands and on two of my fingers. They are not offensive or religious. i have a purple star and a flower. Can this mess up my chances of being a nurse i am just starting school and have not been to a clinical but i hear they are kind of strict about things like this. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not and will it ruin my chances of getting a job in the future?

In school all visible tattoos had to be covered, even on the neck. One guy had to wear a big band-aide to cover his. I have several but none are visible even in scrubs. I now work as an RN in a large hospital and several of my co-workers have tattoos on their wrist, forearms etc.. They are not covered up.

It will come down to the school's policy and the hospital's policy.
