I am applying to both TAMUCC Military Eline and Texas Tech VBSN. I am very concerned about my GPA. I have a 3.5 for my entire academic transcript but only a low 2.5 for my science classes! I have done well on my TEAS historically scoring Proficient and more recently Advanced. I'll be taking my HESI for the first time and I am not terribly worried about it due to how I've done on my TEAS. I have worked as a surgical technician(scrub tech/OR tech) since I was 19 years old so the medical field is not new to me (30yrs old). I also took CNA course in high school and did externship for my junior and senior years HS. So as far as technical capabilities (especially with my military medical experience) I feel very confident. However, the coursework and grades are terrifying to me! I recently found out that I have had un-diagnosed ADHD all my life! I was taking courses in the spring and my doctors started me on ADHD medications and my work performance and grades took a massive upswing so I feel I am now better set academically for the future but I am worried my past academic performance paints a poor picture of me. All the nurses I work with are very encouraging as they know how I perform at work.
I would also love to hear from anyone that has been accepted to or completed these programs about clinicals and online classwork, I'm a planner and I love hearing others experiences so that I can think of ways to make things work for me or even the next person down the line.
