TAMUCC fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've noticed there isn't many forums about the nursing program at tamucc...

I plan on taking their two online classes this summer and then start the nursing program in the fall! We can share the process here :) My stats are

GPA: 3.54

SCIENCE: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

CRITICAL THINKING: 880

Well, I applied to the e-line program.

The eLine track coursework is completed online with the clinical component completed with a preceptor in your area (if available) and/or in a regional (i.e. Dallas/Ft. Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston) and/or local clinical groups in Corpus Christi. Additionally, some (but not all) clinical components will be completed through virtual clinical experiences online. All clinical components must be completed within the state of Texas. The eLine pre-licensure nursing track is five semesters in length.

It works good for me b/c I live in Houston 30mn from medical center.

Oh okay that makes sense! I would be doing the in person program!

It seems like you know alot about the program...do you know if patho and Pharm can be taken at another 4 year university or do I have to take it at Tamucc?

well I received a call from them and a follow up email since i have not taken those classes (i will this summer if accepted)

this is what they told me:

"Per our phone conversation, you did not disclose when you plan to take NURS4322 Health Alterations and NURS 3342 Use of Pharmacology Principles at TAMUCC.

These courses must be completed prior to Fall 2017, if admitted. No D” or F” grades will be accepted for credit.

BIOL 2305 from Lone Star College will be accepted for NURS 4322 Health Alterations credit, however, RNSG 1301 cannot be accepted for NURS 3342 credit.

NURS 3342 and NURS 4322 are offered the full, 10-week summer session, which begins summer I and ends summer II. Both courses are offered fully online. Registration will open up the week of April, according to classification. Please monitor your Islander email for updates from the TAMUCC Registrar's Office.

So I guess you can take pathos anywhere but pharmacology with them or maybe a 4 year university since Lonestar is a junior college.

Yes, I spoke to an advisor today and she said they accepted pharm and patho from a 4yr university

Has anyone taken those two classes? I will be taking them online this summer if accepted and I'm wondering how much time I will need to commit to it.

@ashleyp453

i am currently in patho and pharm. I'm working full time and patho is a normal courseload, but pharm is 4 long chapters/week with discussions and assignments. It's just a lot of info to memorize and digest. Everything will be fine you will just adjust to the courseload and learn how you memorize information the best. If anyone else is taking pharm this semester I'm interested in how they study right now
