Anyone have any opinions/advice about Tallahassee hospitals. I'm an ICU nurse who likes Cardiac Recovery/Surgical Nursing.

Tallahassee Memorial will give you more experiance because they have a higher volume of patients however they pay considerably less than Capital Regional Medical Center. TMH starts new grads at 17.07 and hour and CRMC 20.00 an hour

CRMC has all private rooms, no pediatrics, and only 2 ICU's with 10 beds in each, I am biased since I work at CRMC and of course I think it's the best in the region!

Hi,

What's the PRN rate for CRMC, if you don't mind (RN with 3 years experience working Stepdown and Pulmonary floors)

Thanks

With one year exp I think prn is 27/hr, weekend plan pays 33-40

this is just the ball park figure for one with only a bit of experiance.

Oh, just to let you know crmc only has experianced nurses in the ICU's, they don't allow GN's to work there and I know at tmh they will hire new grads straight into Icu

The last post is not correct about CRMC not hiring new grads to their ICU's unless that is a new development, I graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee in Dec 05, I had at least 2 of my class mates start out immediatly after graduation in the ICU's at CRMC. I worked at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after I graduated. I am now a traveling nurse and have seen a few other hospitals since working there, I think TMH has a very good system compared to what i have seen other places for nursing staff, they did make an effort to keep staff happy, they are in the process of gaining Magnet status, they were very up to date on nursing care and standards of practice, Yes the pay is a little less than CRMC but it is not a huge differance, I think it is only about 2 dollars. I hope this helps. Good luck in your search.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. CRMC is a smaller facility than TMH. At the same time TMH is in a very old bldg while CRMC is a newer modern facility. BOth places will sell themselves to you, but take it all with a grain of salt. The ICU's at TMH at least the CVICU and MSICU are being forced to be one unit with a interim Nurse Managaer, people are a little less than happy at this point. They also have a CICU (TMH) they have had alot of changes this past year with a new manager. From what I have seen the senior nurses have pulled roots and left. As I am sure you know that everything runs in cycles. CRMC is going to get an influx of cardiologist from TMH going to expand their practice. BOth places have good and bad. Good luck.

Hi, I realize this thread is very old but I thought I could give it a try :) I am contemplating moving to Tallahassee (I am in Gainesville now) and will be looking for a job. I will be a new grad but will be licensed by the time I am moving. I have worked in the Trauma ICU at Shands for 3 years, and I wish to work as an RN in critical care. My boyfriend will be taking a job in anesthesia, which will be my main reason for making the move. We are debating between Tallahassee and Melbourne. Please if anyone has any current info on critical care jobs for RNs in the area I would greatly appreciate it. I have heard both good and bad things about TMH but don't know much about CRMC. Pay is not that important to me, the work environment is more important. I am a very hard worker and want to really learn to be the best ICU nurse that I can. Thank you in advance for any info you can share!

does anyone have any information on the new grad program at capital regional medical center?
