Taking TEAS on the 30th of March

Published

Hello everybody! I'm a student in California at a local CC that will be taking the TEAS exam for the first time very soon. I have been studying my butt off for the past 2+ weeks and it's somewhat stressing me out at this point. I'm not sure if I am overdoing it or underdoing it with the studying.

Either way, I've taken much of the advice for my studying from this website. I bought the two practice ATI tests online, completed one before studying, and completed one after studying for a week and scored the SAME SCORE on both (82.7%). Which in my opinion is kind of funny, but I need an 85% minimum to have a chance in my program. :notworthy: I've watched countless youtube videos, Khan Academy videos, Crash Course videos, Tyler DeWitt Chemistry vids, and Mometrix videos. I also bought the official ATI study guide, along with the Mometrix study guide, and the full Pocket Prep app for my Android ($12).

I just wanted to make this post so I can get back to you all with how I do on my Teas Exam and whether or not my study methods were good enough to help me achieve the score I needed. I will let you guys know if I make the mistake of burning myself out or if this test really deserves a months worth of preparation. :cry:

the mometrix helped me. I just took it last friday but the minimun score is much lower in my program. what program are you hoping for ASN BSN or LPN? my score was 80% - advanced

This website is a curse. It won't let me post my comment to reply to you lol

@lovenotwar14

The program I'm applying to offers an ADN that combines with a local university for your BSN degree. This school only takes 32 people every year and it's extremely competitive. I'm lucky that I even made it to the point of being able to take the TEAS to even be considered. What are your thoughts on the difficulty of the exam and how long did you study for? Great score by the way!

Good luck with the test! :-) I am taking it on April 3rd. Let me know how you are doing with the test. I am preparing like you do. I am watching lots of youtube videos and I took the two online ati tests. It helped me a lot to find out which sections I have to improve and study more. I think the best videos are crash course for the science part and Keshwani for Math. I also watched mometrix videos and bought the ati teas study manual and the mometrix study guide. I took several tests in the books and timed them because I heard that most people running out of time when they take the teas test for the first time.

@Jessica K

Thank you! I will let you know as soon as I take it

Small update. After taking the form B practice assessment exam for the second time, I scored a 90.7% compared to my first score of 82.7%. This was 17 days apart from when I took it the first time. I made a few lame mistakes like, misreading synonym for antonym in the english section and not reading thoroughly enough in the math and science areas. Therefore, my actual score could have very well been higher. Maybe all this studying is paying off, or it could be that I just remembered the questions from taking the exam once before. Either way, just a word of encouragement for those out there studying that your hard work really does pay off.

Additionally, today I studied ovulation and gestational phases which may be overlooked because they are not included in the study manual. Make sure to study these, people!

Good luck on your exam!! It's approaching real quick. Ahhh!! I am studying right now to get prepared. Without studying I took the online test and scored a 72% which is super low but that just means I really have to study and hopefully boost it up quite a bit. It's been a while since I had anatomy and Physiology. I need to score at least an 85 to be accepted into the BSN program I'm looking into or else it's community college. Let us know how it went!!

Thank you and good luck with your studying Johaanas! Don't burn yourself out with too many details. After all, it is multiple choice and we've got the process of elimination. Phew :cat:! Also community colleges aren't always as bad as they seem!

Tomorrow is the big day .

Woo, .. I hope all is going well with your test today! How was it? I'm sure it was long and exhausting! Were the questions more or so what you were expecting according to the study guide? I scheduled mine for may 30th!!

As as far as community college yeah they're not bad I'd actually pick them over the BSN but the reason i wanted to get into the BSN program is because it's only a 22 month program! Super fast paced. Process of elimination actually does help, it sure helped me on some questions during the practice!!

Oce again, I hope you did well today. Let us know! í ½í¸‰

I got an overall percentage of 88, wonderful for the program I'm applying to! (I needed an 85 minimum). I honestly just gave up on studying for the past few days but I should have reviewed more for English. The Math and Science was what saved my grade. Reading is very easy to run out of time on, so I found it the most challenging and somewhat tricky. The official study guide was good, but most of the stuff on the exam was just something that I knew without studying for. What really helped me was the 2 practice tests from the ati website. Those gave me explanations to what I got wrong, helped me get a feel for the exam format, and when I took the test I was able to picture in my mind what the explanation might have been if it was just practice. I think the mometrix book over-prepares you and it honestly made my brain hurt. Science was NOT in depth at ALL. Feel free to ask more questions lol
