I have a minor dilema and would love some advice.
I've already planned on taking an Anatomy and a Physiology class this semester (the schools in my area do not offer combined A&P classes but instead, separate classes all together). I was scheduled to take an online chemistry class during the summer but I'm somewhat hesitant about it because I really don't want to cram Chemistry into my head in only 4 weeks. Plus it interferes with my husband's pre-deployment vacation time and I really don't want to miss out on that.
So I have the option of putting Chemistry into my schedule next semester as well - the class just happens to fall exactly on my "free day". I have actually taken all of the classes in the past so most of the course work will be review for me.
The other thing is that for the moment, I'm considering taking the ADN option and then doing the rest of the BSN online. I'm wondering if I should even bother with the chemistry if I'm going that route? Since I don't know where I'll be taking my ADN (we're military and will be moving next year) I have to just guess on some of the pre-reqs.
Thanks!

Hello, fellow Marine Mommy. I have taken two sciences with one non-science course. It was a lot for me to handle and thankfully I will never have to do that again. My husband was deployed at the time but my parents helped me out with the kids so I could attend study and review sessions.
I think some people can mange but if it were me, I would not do it. I thought I was going to snap mid-way through even though I enjoy science classes.
By the way, some ADN degrees need Chemistry too. Can you wait to take one during a different Semester?
That is what I'm worried about... snapping. I think I'll just take the Chem course in the Spring semester!
Thank you for the response!!

I took Micro, A&P II and Pharmacology along with another class one semester. It was too much to handle. I have a 3 year old and I am married. It was just too much. I had no time for anything except school and didn't really have enough time for that. Also, at the school I attend, Chemistry is a pre-req for A&P. I was passing everything but I dropped A&P II the next semester because I knew that I could do better, and I did (way better). I do not recommend taking 2 science courses the same semester but everyone is different. The only person that can make that decision is you. Don't over-do it. You will need to save some of that energy for when you start the nursing program.

One science a term is enough to snap me. Chem is doing that to me right now. Tofutti

I took three last quarter, all with labs, and it was more manageable than I expected. But I don't work, so I have all the time in the world to study (doesn't mean I do though).
I would take Chemistry even if you don't know where you're going. It's a pretty basic pre-req for most nursing programs, and in the very least, it'll help with other sciences.
