Taking the Plunge

Published

Well, I'm taking the plunge finally.

I had been nit-picking different schools to find what I think will suit me best for now.

And I'm not sure how well it's going to go for me on my choices as the school I picked out in general has a lot of bad reviews. I'm taking my TEAS test Monday and hopefully I will do well. I'm worried about the math as it's not easy at all for me. My strongest skills are in English or Reading and a bit in Science. I'm nervous, about if I'll do well, if my scores will be good enough, how I'm going to live/work during this time, but I figured I'd take the plunge and just go with the flow this time. I'm so nervous, if I can succeed in getting in no doubt I'll be completely happy and not all hope is lost for me at 23 years old haha. It's definitely something I want to do in my life, can't think of anything else I'd enjoy (besides being a pro animal cuddler if such a thing were to exist (; ). The school I'm applying to is Bay State College, unfortunately I can't find squat on a microbiology professor that is good. So worried that I hope I'm making a good decision.

23? you have plenty of time to make lots of choices, but good for you about going for what you want. School is what you make of it, you can study and succeed whether your school has good reviews or not.

Study on your own, ask lots of questions, and don't get hung up on if the prof is what you expected. I do an online course, and frankly, my students teach and learn it all themselves; I support and guide and answer questions.

Is it affordable and their NCLEX rate is reasonable ?

That is more important compared to a single professor. Nursing school is demanding and stressful - no matter where you go. Microbiology, pharmacology, statistics etc are all difficult classes for many nurse students. The reason seems to be that students who gravitate towards the science do not necessarily study nursing ....

IMO there is a lot wrong with nursing education to begin with and it is probably safe to assume that you will have to do a lot of learning by yourself.

The NCLEX is about 80% but that's with all the ADN programs at other schools/university I've looked at in my area have scored. I decided to take it at my cheaper community college and try for a B still. It's a hard class, but I'm sure I'll make it.
