Taking the NCLEX out of state (graduating from IN, test in CA?)

My fiance is getting ready to graduate from ITT Tech here in Indianapolis, IN and she wants to take her NCLEX back in CA (We are originally from there and considering moving back). We have checked the CA Board of nursing website which states:

"U.S. GRADUATES, CALIFORNIA NON-GRADUATES, and APPLICANTS EDUCATED OUTSIDE THE

U.S. COMPLETING NURSING REQUIREMENTS:

* Section 2736 of the Business and Professions Code states that applicants must have satisfactorily

completed instruction in an accredited school of professional nursing that meets California's

educational requirements."

ITT Tech is accredited Regionally, no Nationally (they are trying to get NLN accredited as right now, fingers crossed) so will CA allow her to take the NCLEX in CA, as opposed to taking the NCLEX in IN and transferring to CA? We have tried to reach out to the CA BON but getting through to someone is impossible.

You can take the NCLEX in any location that you choose. You can also apply for the initial license in any state where you wish to practice, live, or hold the license. Just follow the instructions on the web site to complete the application.

So by CA stating "....satisfactorily

completed instruction in an accredited school of professional nursing that meets California's

educational requirements" as long as the school is a nursing program and ok'd by the IN nursing board CA should accept it? As long as she is cleared in Indiana to take the test she will be ok in CA?

Thanks again, This is not my major but just trying to get a clear view of this thing. And from what i understand the NCLEX is a nation wide test, the same in all states, so it would make sense to be able to take it in any state if you graduated with an Associates.

i would double check with california. if they say no, you can always sit for an indiana license and endorse to california. caliotter3 is correct. i really don’t see why she would not be able to sit in california to test, but i would still check with ca state board of nursing.
