Anyone attend the Tactical Combat Medical Care Course (TCMC) course at Ft Sam? The course is normally for PAs and Docs, but as a soon-to-be-deployed RN I was able to get a slot for next weeks course.
If you have taken the course, any suggestions/advice? I admit I am incredibly excited to get to practice things that RNs dont normally do- like inserting a chest tubes. Goat lab should be fun :)

Hello Army Kitten,
Is this the same course that is available after OBLC when we all seperate into our specialty tracks?
If so, when we complete our current OBLC it will be the Nurse combat specialty course too. However since you are going through with the PAs and Docs I can ask some of the current PAs in OBC if you like.
Been in SA for nearly a month now. I went to the AMEDD museum at FSH just Saturday and I want to go back for a second look already.

p.s. feel free to pm me
Yes, same course. The Docs and PAs would attend this course while the Nurses attended TNCC. The current PAs in your course probably have not attended yet since they are new to the Army. Thank you though, I am looking for those that have already attended.
Good luck on finishing OBLC. That was the most fun 4 months of my life! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Hi,
Our OBLC is not four months, (7 weeks).
I'm permanent party and now live here, I'm home each evening like a regular job.
I am sure it is a little different for those who are living on post and in the BOQ, I've heard about some wild times in prior classes but...my expereince is a little different than that. Still fun though, just the same.
