Anyone using Tablo machines?
Tablo is typically used for HHD patients but our organization has been using it for inpatients and long-term residents. It's designed for home use due to its "simplicity" and it has a built-in RO system.
At this time, it is engineered to only do max DFR of 300, BFR of 400, therefore patients who have been running on it has been barely passing clearance. It also has a line for heparin but no pump, so it has to be pushed in.
We have issues during emergencies such as bolusing saline during symptomatic hypotension. Operator (and patients) is dependent to the machine's demeanor. So, if the machine doesn't like the function that you pressed, it will say, "Uh Oh!" Then the operator would be fumbling for the right button than really taking care of the emergency. Unlike, let's say Fresenius machines, just clamp the lines and bolus until you (almost) the bag at the speed that the operator thinks is appropriate. But not this one. Anyway, like I said we just started using this (June - July 2020), so if there are dialysis nurses/techs out there that could give advice and share their experience with Tablo, it would be a great help.
