Syneregy battery, endometriosis, laparotomy

hi all.

i firstly want to say thank you to all the nurses, aids, techs, dr out there. i know that you guys have a horrible job, but if it wasn't for you guys, imagine how much of the wrold would be different in today's society.

secondly, i'm not a nurse, pre-nursing, but eventually hope to be one someday. i jsut have a semi-simple question (i think), but in order to ask ym question, it would be beneficial to give a quick semi background.

my background, i'm a 26 year old female, who has complete urinary retention (which was caused from a laparoscopy, in which my surgeon at the time decided to laser on the nerves to the front and back of the bladder to remove the endometriosis that was on the bladder). we didn't find out exactly what happenend to my bladder until almost 8 months later. the day after the surgery, (was technically a outpatient procedure), but ended up in the er and ended up getting into the hosp overnight, due to retention, (they er nurse and dr kept cathing me, and they kept getting over 3000ccs worth of urine in about every hr or so) i was admitted into the hosp for complete retention, hyponatramia, abdominal/pelvic pain, (of course you would have abdominal pain after having laparoscopy) and poor pain control.

moving on, that happenend back in 05. in march of 06, my local uro sent me to a specialist uro down in another state, and that uro decided to put a syneregy pacemaker (due to the neurogenic bladder) and that was a huge lifesaver. it changed my life totally around.

okay, on to my question, i'm going to have to have another lap, (my instincts are to have a open laparotomy, rather then a regular laparoscopy because of what happenend to my bladder) and i talked to my dr about it, and he is afraid to touch me internally inside. so, now i'm going to another specialisits, for my endo to get it excisied out, and he's going to do it, although he wants to do it via regular laparoscopy.

i want a laparotomy, and for some reason, i can't get a ob/gyn who will do a laparotomy. is is wrong for me to not have a laparoscopy?

okay another question, if i have the laparotomy, is it wrong for a patient to request to put her own foley in? i do them to me at my uro's office all the time, if i need it... also, since i have the bladder problems going into surgery, will the pre-op and post op things be the same? also, i cn turn off the syneregy battery, but if i do that, then my bladder doesn't work, and if i turn the battery on, (after it being off for awhile, it takes longer for me to start voiding on my own again)

hopefully someone has a response. sorry for all the rambeling.
