SWTCC Fall 2014 Nursing Hopefuls

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hi all!

Just wondering if there are any hopeful candidates out there for the Southwest Tennessee Community College Nursing Program for Fall 2014?

If so, do you mind sharing your ranking index score with me? Or your NLN? I scored a 132 on the NLN and wanted to retake it to try for a higher score, but was told that my score was "high" for SWTCC so I settled for it. After reading some of the posts on here, though, I now feel as though my score is mediocre, at best.

I am applying for Fall 2014

any tips on taking the nln from your experience that may be helpful?

I ordered the NLN review guide from amazon and added on the other suggested materials...the math review book was a life saver!

I applied to the program last year while I was still enrolled in Micro. On the paperwork it said it was suggested to complete all of your sciences before applying, but obviously that isn't the case and it is more of a requirement as it greatly affects your index score. Anyway, I was notified on March 27 via email that I wasn't accepted (and then received a not so friendly certified letter telling me to reapply after I finished Micro lol). Today is the deadline for applications! Well, tomorrow technically is, but the admissions personnel will not be in the office to accept them tomorrow. So good luck to any and all that have applied! Keep us all posted on any updates you may have please!!

Getting ready to head down to Union ave and turn my application in!!! I spent 2 hrs on the phone with advising getting my transfer credits straight! Final Cum. GPA is 2.7. So my index score is officially 59.6!! I really really really hope that score is high enough to get me into the program! I've been fighting to get into a programs since Spring 2011! I'm getting sick of the rejection letters and wait lists!

Well you've got me beat! I am sure you'll get in :) Congrats and good luck!

I scored a 120 on my nln and I tried to retake it as well but I was told that it is best to stick with my current score that most of the folks that got in last semester did not score that well. However, that does not mean that their pre reqs GPAs did not contribute to thier index score. My GPA is 2.8 and I have all Bs in A/PI, II and microbiology. My index score does not look so hot right now:nailbiting:.[/quote'] u have that book just wanted to know if that same content was on the test was their lots of physics? Can u remember a sample science question ? Thanks by the way ! : )
I took the NLN without having a clue as to what to expect on it. I signed up and managed to get in to take the test the following week so I really had no time to prepare. For the most part I remember there being a great deal of vocabulary on there and it seemed to be several questions about things like electricity lol. I honestly don't remember much of what was on it. Sorry! I do know that the math that was on it was fairly simple (fractions, decimals, that sort of thing) if that helps![/quote'] thanks for the advice!

Yes, I still have the book. Pretty much, the same type of things will be on the NLN but of course different scenarios. There is a vocabulary portion, the verbal ability portion ( main ideas) and simple mathematics ( taking you way back ) adding, multiplying and dividing fractions, decimals, percentages, etc. It is very important to read the instructions as to how to read the paragraph and get the main idea without running out of time. It helped me a lot. I would say treat the NLN like you would the ACT.

And they had a science course. The sections are middle school level, the challenge is remembering

You score good on the NLN and you're in. I am the one that should be worried. I made all Bs
